Alonso reveals the differences between Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Daytona: "The fans are very close to the teams"

Interviewed by Autosport on the differences between Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Daytona, Fernando Alonso talked about the fans' passion for the American race, underlining how the environment and the heat are profoundly different compared to what is seen in Europe. The Spaniard, in fact, revealed how at Daytona there is a direct relationship between the fans and the teams, an aspect that makes everything more fun.

Here are the words of Fernando Alonso: “Last year I had some great moments and already this year a couple of kids were about to jump in the car! The fans get very close and some can even touch the cars. Something like this is unthinkable in Formula 1 or in Europe and this is precisely the best part of the race at Daytona."

“The fans are very close to the pit lane and often, when you are about to get into the car, they ask you to sign an autograph or take a photo”, he added. “Sometimes you have to tell them it's a critical moment, as you have to jump in to drive, but at the same time it's something fun. The passion of the fans when they see the cars is something extremely beautiful."
