Alonso: “Red Bull uses something different but it's legal”
The Spaniard commented on the rumors about the use of special mapping by Red Bull
Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel's main rival for the F1 drivers' title, said his change of Renault engine to Red Bull in Singapore is nothing new.
“I think the different engine sound is nothing new this year for Red Bull,” said the Spaniard. “It's true that in Singapore it was more evident, perhaps because it's a street circuit and people are closer to the corners. But already from the winter tests in Barcelona, in the curves, the Red Bull had a different sound. So they're using something different than the other teams, but it's something completely okay."
“They pass all checks on Saturday and Sunday so they are completely legal and it's up to us to do a better job and maximize the potential,” added Alonso.
