Alonso: "Little chance of fighting for the title"
di F1 editorial team27 February 2008
Fernando Alonso gave himself a "30% chance of fighting for the title" this year but denied being excessively pessimistic. "No, not at all," the Spaniard told Radio Cadena SER in Barcelona. "Saying that we will be between seventh and ninth position on the grid in Australia doesn't mean being pessimistic but just that I answer questions honestly."
"The truth is that we simply lack a car capable of fighting for the podium" he added, explaining that in his opinion the Renault R28 lacks about half a second to fight with the two top teams.
"The car is better than last year, but we continue to suffer with the Bridgestone tyres."
