Alonso is not considering leaving Ferrari

Fernando Alonso will be "involved in future projects" at Ferrari. A Cavallino spokesperson declared this in the midst of rumors of a possible farewell of the Spaniard, frustrated by the lack of competitiveness of the Red team. Alonso's dissatisfaction was evident on Wednesday in Monaco, when he welcomed the compliments of Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche, calling it "disappointing" that the praise didn't come instead from those closest to him in F1.

The president of Ferrari, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, then reacted immediately by defining the Spaniard as "the best driver in the world" and denying the existence of a controversial situation.

However, there continue to be doubts about whether Alonso will remain in red in 2015. The Mercedes door apparently closed with the renewal, not yet confirmed, of Nico Robserg for another two years, Alonso could return to McLaren, which will have Honda engines from 2015.

But a Ferrari spokesperson told Spanish newspaper Marca that Alonso remains committed to Ferrari: “He will be involved in future projects, in the restructuring of the team to transform it into a winning team. Alonso is not thinking of leaving."

For many, Alonso would certainly stay if Ferrari managed to sign Adrian Newey. Red Bull tried to stop the rumors by issuing a statement in which Newey stated that he wanted to stay with the Austrian team "for the foreseeable future" and the new Ferrari team boss, Marco Mattiacci, responded with a firm "no" when told they asked about a possible invitation to Maranello for Newey.

“We are working a lot with James Allison, he is extremely competent and has a future in Ferrari” explained Mattiacci. The Italian also highlighted Alonso's contribution: “Fernando Alonso is a great champion and I am absolutely happy to have him in our team. I like people who fight and who always push to give their best” he added.
