Alonso: “It wasn't an easy victory”

Fernando Alonso is visibly satisfied at the end of the Chinese Formula 1 GP, which he won in dominating fashion. The Ferrari driver beat Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).

“I'm really happy, eight years have passed since my first victory here. It was a perfect race for us. The start was clean, we immediately passed Kimi and then during the first stint also Lewis" said Alonso.
“The car was excellent throughout the race, we managed tire degradation as best we could. But it wasn't an easy race, there's always a risk when you have to overtake and there was some confusion and tension linked to Vettel's strategy. It's a great reward for the team after the disappointment in Malaysia” added Alonso.

“When I got to the finish line I got a second place and a win so I'd say it was a great start to the season. Who is my rival for the title? We have to wait for summer. After the summer break there will be a smaller group of riders fighting and we hope to be part of that. I hope Felipe is also part of it because he will mean that the car is really good” concluded Alonso.
