Alonso: “McLaren and Red Bull are stronger”

Fernando Alonso is disappointed at the end of qualifying for the Formula 1 Korean GP. The Ferrari Spaniard will start from sixth position, also behind his teammate, Felipe Massa.

“I can't be happy about being sixth but this is the reflection of today's situation: McLaren and Red Bull are stronger and we just have to fight for fifth and sixth place between us” commented Alonso.

“Saturday goes like this then maybe tomorrow it ends like in Suzuka and we find ourselves fighting for the victory. When tire degradation is very high we are usually in good shape but here the situation is still not very clear: the behavior of the Supersofts over distances and with a full tank of petrol is still an unknown. We evaluated the use of this type of tire already in Q1 but then we chose not to take too many risks" explained Alonso.

“Today we lost too much time in the first sector, where we lack speed. In my last attempt I immediately lost a couple of tenths at the first corner and then I couldn't recover them so I decided not to complete the lap. Unfortunately I will start from the dirty side of the grid, which should be very penalizing here: let's hope not to lose position compared to Rosberg. We will have to look carefully at what will happen in front of us and use the strategy in our favor. The new front wing? I don't like talking about individual technical solutions, on the one hand I think it's up to the technicians to do it, on the other hand I prefer to share my opinions on the matter only with the team".
