Alonso: “The drivers' title is not a realistic objective”

Only sixth in Korea, Ferrari is thinking of second place in the Constructors' Championship

Alonso: “The drivers' title is not a realistic objective”

Fernando Alonso now seems resigned after sixth place at the Korean GP. His title rival, Sebastian Vettel, won the race in dominant fashion, further increasing his lead in the standings and flying towards his fourth world title.

“Vettel is now far away, at every race we experience a 30 second delay from them” commented Alonso. “We must not delude ourselves about the drivers' title, we certainly don't give up and give 100% in every race but second place in the Constructors' championship is a more realistic objective” he added.

“It was a very difficult race. We thought on Friday we would have some problems in the long runs and unfortunately we had confirmation in the race, we didn't have the pace in qualifying or even the pace in the race. This was very frustrating but we now have to think about Suzuka and try to get back to the podium position. Sauber? We had seen that they had high top speeds and for this reason we wanted to avoid finding them in front of us, unfortunately it happened at the start and then we did the whole race behind them resulting in further stress on the tyres. However, we saw that Hamilton also failed to overtake Hulkenberg. In any case we didn't have a great pace even to overtake the Sauber so for Suzuka we have to review everything to get back on the podium" concluded Alonso.
