Alonso: “Ferrari also strong at the Nurburgring”

Fernando Alonso is satisfied with his Friday free practice at the Formula 1 German GP at the Nurburgring. The Spaniard from Ferrari achieved the best time in the first session and the second in the afternoon, between the two Red Bulls of Webber and Vettel, confirming the Red Bull's newfound competitiveness.

“A normal Friday, like many others. The first sensations given by the car are good, which confirms that we are working in the right direction. I've said it several times: it's not as if a miracle happened at Silverstone due to the exhaust rules. That result is the result of the many improvements introduced race after race, so much so that it is from Monaco that we found good competitiveness and also here, where we have returned to the Valencia rules, we are in the top positions" declared Alonso.

The low temperatures are not a help for Ferrari: “The cold, in theory, is no friend to us: Red Bull has a further advantage but it is up to us to adapt as best we can to these conditions. Furthermore, low temperatures can also influence the strategy to be adopted in qualifying, given that it is not easy to set the time in the first timed lap. If it were to rain the situation would be even more complicated."

The Spaniard risked a collision with Michael Schumacher in free practice 2: “The episode with Michael? Nothing happened, maybe he didn't see me coming and then I had to brake sharply. Then, on a Friday that is always the same as any other, every now and then some emotion is welcome" concluded Alonso.
