Alonso: “We know our strengths”

It was a two-sided day that Scuderia Ferrari experienced today and which for the first time saw one of the two free practice sessions of the Bahrain Grand Prix take place under the floodlights, at night. For Fernando Alonso, the third Friday race of the season was rather quiet: in fact, he placed third twice behind the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, the great protagonists of the start of the championship.

Fernando Alonso: “After so many races held during the day it's a really strange sensation to ride here in the dark, even if compared to other races at night there aren't any big differences, we just have to get used to it. In this sense, today it was extremely useful to test, especially in FP2, to learn as much as possible from the behavior of the tires and car. Even though we lapped a lot here during the winter tests, now it's like starting from scratch and we need to adapt to the new references provided by the different track conditions. We know our strengths and the areas we need to focus on to improve, but we must not want to do too much to catch up in terms of performance. At this moment we need to take safe steps and always look at reliability, which in the first two races allowed us to score important points and which always counts a lot."
