Alonso: “At the Silverstone tests only if they force me to”

Fernando Alonso has declared that he does not feel comfortable trying new experimental Pirelli tires in the upcoming tests at Silverstone. “I don't feel comfortable going and testing a prototype tire on the track where we had the most problems. If it were up to me I wouldn't go. I will only go if the team forces me. I'm not a Pirelli test driver. I have faith in their work, but it's clear that they got the tires wrong" commented the Ferrari driver on Thursday's German GP.

“I can't say if we will lose ground with the new tyres, but I would say that we have to adapt because in the end the tires are the same for everyone” he added.

Felipe Massa instead confirmed his presence at the tests while Stefano Domenicali tried to defuse tensions: “We understand the drivers' concern and doubts, after what happened at Silverstone last weekend. However, we remain certain that Pirelli will soon provide the necessary answers to remedy the problems that have arisen."
