Alonso accepts the penalty: “We won't give up”

Fernando Alonso said he accepted the penalty which probably cost him the podium in the British Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver received a drive-through penalty after overtaking Robert Kubica's Renault while cutting a bend.

The penalty arrived 10 laps after the infringement and shortly afterwards the safety car entered the track, ruining all the Spaniard's chances

“I have to accept everything they do. They are our referees” declared the Spaniard, already fresh from the bitter controversy in Valencia.

“We are only halfway through the season, all the points we lost in this first half are only our responsibility, we didn't do things properly like the others. In the second half of the season we will try to do better than the others and recover one more point than we have now. The season is very long and we won't give up."

Alonso finished in 14th position, ahead of his Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa.
