Alonso: “We used a power unit at the end of its cycle”
"It was part of a program already adopted for a few races"
The Spanish Ferrari driver was unable to complete the second free practice session at the Interlagos circuit for the Brazilian Grand Prix due to the engine failure of his Ferrari F14T.
Fernando Alonso: “Today we knew that by using a power unit that had reached the end of its cycle we would have risked not completing both sessions, but this was part of a program adopted for a few races already. It's always a shame not to be able to take advantage of all the minutes of testing available, although I don't think this affected our work too much. With the new asphalt the track had a lot of grip and it was extremely difficult to put together a good lap, because the behavior of the tires varied at every corner. When the asphalt is new, rain is always a big unknown and it's impossible to make predictions: it was supposed to be like that in Sochi too but then it didn't rain and this means that we have to prepare for everything."
