Adam Parr expects Williams to change gear
After the disappointing start, the Grove team aims to get back on track from Barcelona
Former Williams chairman Adam Parr said the team has a talented design team that can allow the team to recover from its poor start to the season.
The new FW34 did not prove to be as competitive as expected after an excellent but inconsistent 2012, in fact this year the team has not yet scored points in the first four races. However, Parr – who left the team last year – said the design team is capable of allowing the team to recover.
“I know they have the skills to get to the bottom of all these problems. The head of aerodynamics, Jason Sommerville, Mike Coughlan and Ed Wood, who are the project leaders, are talented and capable people. They did a great job with a great car last year. This year's car is simply an evolution; Maybe they're trying something a little complicated?” Adam Parr told Sky Sports.
Parr believes recent races have shown that if Williams can improve the car in time for the Spanish Grand Prix they will start scoring points consistently.
“I am totally optimistic and convinced that in Barcelona we will see a step forward and if you look at how the boys raced in Bahrain, where they were certainly not in the top positions, but in eleventh and fourteenth, they gained many positions in the race and they also had a solid race. If they can make the car slightly better, they will start to get points."
