Originally for Kimi Räikkönen the return to F1 was supposed to take place at Williams, but then as we all know Lotus prevailed. More than a year after those moments of negotiations, the chief executive of the English team Adam Parr explained to Autosport the main reasons why the Finn did not join them.

“There was someone within the team who wanted to take him, others instead claimed that we would have made a huge mistake” – says the manager – “Personally I would have taken him but in the end I came to the conclusion that it was too risky and even though speaking to him I was I was impressed by his hunger and determination, there was always the unknown as to his actual value and then we didn't even know if our car would be competitive enough."
