Porsche is more interested in Le Mans than F1

Porsche continues to distance itself from its previous statements of wanting to enter F1 in the near future.

Late last year, chief executive Matthias Mueller said there were some "disadvantages" to entering F1, "disadvantages" that were not present in other top categories.
But then the FIA gave the green light to the new rules for engines from 2013, putting Hans-Joachim Stuck, representative of Volkswagen, in a position to declare that "the conditions for entering F1 have been created".
Muller, however, replied that although VW, owner of Porsche and Audi, often mentions F1, the most concrete possibilities for participation are elsewhere.
“Without a doubt there are some very attractive aspects of F1,” he told Austrian magazine Automobil Revue. “But there are also negative aspects. Formula 1 is very expensive, and success is much less predictable.”
And he then ruled that participation in Le Mans, in the LMP1 category, is much more likely.
“We shouldn't necessarily go against Audi, but we would if necessary. This would mean that there would be two brands of the group fighting. The VW Group's probability of victory would therefore increase,” Mueller explained.
And he urged the VW group brands to come together to “decide on a racing strategy for the coming years.”
