F1 | Mercedes, Antonelli is very confident ahead of the Las Vegas GP

If eating makes you hungry, then Andrea Kimi Antonelli is proving to be hungry. Very hungry. The young Italian talent, promoted by Toto Wolff alongside George Russell following the departure of Lewis Hamilton, who has embraced the Ferrari technical project, has delivered strong performances in recent races, particularly the Interlagos weekend, where he finished second.

Antonelli, who secured his second podium finish of the season with the P2 in São Paulo after the one in Montreal in mid-June, is focused on the Las Vegas round, where he has high expectations. It was on the Nevada street circuit that the team scored a remarkable one-two finish last year, courtesy of Russell and Hamilton.

"Very confident," Antonelli said, discussing expectations for the Las Vegas GP. "I mean, as a team, we've decided to try to do everything we did last year with the car. Even though it's a different car than last year, a lot has changed, so just because we were fast last year doesn't mean we'll be fast this year."

Antonelli then added: “I think as a team we will try to put the car in the best possible position and, as a driver, I will try to get the best performance possible.”
