F1 US GP | Red Bull, Tsunoda: "The goal is to consistently stay in the points."
The one in Texas was perhaps the best weekend for the Japanese, who scored points in both the Sprint and the main race
Austin – The one in Texas It's definitely one of the best weekends of Yuki tsunoda since his arrival in RedBull.
The Japanese manages to gain points both in the Sprint Race, both in Sunday's race. In the mini race – won by his teammate Max Verstappen – Yuki manages to take advantage of the general chaos caused by the two McLaren to move from eighteenth to seventh place, earning two points. A stroke of luck, certainly, but Tsunoda also confirmed his performance in the race: starting thirteenth, Tsunoda crossed the finish line in seventh place again, securing six precious points. This performance is indicative of Tsunoda's improvement, as he has been trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel for months, but also a sign of how much the Red Bull has actually improved. Max is back to being the dominator we've come to know in recent seasons, and Tsunoda is also competitive again, consistently hovering in the points zone.
Tsunoda: “I enjoyed both races”
“Today was a great start and a good first lap, once again. The first laps went well, I had good pace and was able to overtake a lot of cars. I enjoyed both races and felt confident with the car. I scored points in both races this weekend, so overall, the weekend was positive,” commented Yuki. “The pace today was good, but I could have done a little better in that, especially in the second stint. I need to continue scoring points in the next races and improve especially on short runs, as we're struggling there. That has to be the goal now, I need to work on that and put everything together for Mexico and beyond.”
