F1 | Ferrari, Vigna: "We'll wait and see; the first real tests will be in Bahrain."

2026 should be a relaunch year for Ferrari, which finished the previous season with a dismal fourth place in the Constructors' Championship, without a win. The new championship, characterized by technical and regulatory changes, could be the perfect opportunity to get back on track after a very challenging year.

Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, discussing the new season, expressed caution ahead of the two test sessions in Bahrain, a prelude to the World Championship, which opens on March 8th at Melbourne's Albert Park. In the previous tests in Barcelona, with the shakedown held at the Catalan track at the end of January, the SF-26 ran consistently without experiencing the slightest problem with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

"Now we're waiting. We've only done the tests in Barcelona. The first real tests will be this week and next week in Bahrain, and we'll see," Vigna said, quoted by La Stampa, during the conference call with financial analysts. "The cars are different, the engines are different, the suspension is different. Before, there were two electric motors, and now there's one. The current one is more powerful, the tires are different, everything has changed in that sense. Then we'll have sustainable fuel. So it will certainly give fans the opportunity to see different things."

Vigna, continuing his analysis, added: "The car is smaller, so it should also allow for easier overtaking. And then there will also be an additional team, 11, so 22 cars will be on the circuits instead of 20. This increases the likelihood of overtaking."
