Symonds talks about Williams: “Improving the excellent placing of 2014 will be very difficult”

The third place achieved by Williams in the constructors' championship certainly did not disappoint Pat Symonds' expectations. The former Renault and Marussia coach, in an interview with Autosport, declared that he was very satisfied with the performances shown by the English team last season. A year full of satisfactions where Franck Williams' team managed to carve out a place of honor at the top of Formula One. The FW36 proved to be an excellent car that was able to make the most of the enormous potential of the Mercedes power unit. Furthermore, Felipe Massa and Valterri Bottas confirmed their great talent with an almost perfect season.

Despite this, however, the current Technical Director of the Grove Scuderia has invited the entire team to keep their feet firmly on the ground in anticipation of the next championship, given that the main competitors (Mclaren and Ferrari above all) will try to all ways to recover the ground lost during 2014.

Here are the words of Pat Symonds: “We set the bar very high. We are not a team that is struggling financially, but we are not a team that has the same budget as some of our larger competitors. Beating Ferrari was one of the things that pleased me most last year, it's not that I'm a competitive person, but that we beat them with half their budget".

“In any case, improving further will be more difficult than going from ninth to third position. At the moment we can see that some of our rivals have hired new people or even changed engine suppliers, so we need to try to make the most of the continuity advantage we have had. We have to push" he concluded.
